The Rotterdam Courthouse has been renovated on a grand scale, commissioned by the Central Government Real Estate Agency. The new design, made by Fokkema & Partners Architecten in collaboration with Dura Vermeer, contains sustainable features including a SemperGreenwall Indoor. The green wall is part of the renewed reception area. In January 2020, the Mayor of Rotterdam Ahmed Aboutaleb officially opened the new courthouse.
Living walls as an acoustic solution
The main reason for applying the SemperGreenwall in this area were the acoustics. The SemperGreenwall decreases noise pollution in crowded spaces. The green wall absorbs 41% more sound than a traditional wall, which creates a calmer atmosphere in this busy entrance.
