Swiss manufacturer Thermoplan AG, known for its fully automatic coffee machines, has moved into a new LEED-certified office building in the Swiss village of Weggis. This new building, which is entirely focused on sustainability and well-being, features an impressive atrium containing the atmospheric Café Unique. Here, Hodel & Partner installed a unique 11-metre-high SemperGreenwall Indoor, a true eye-catcher in the ultramodern, industrial interior.
Healthy working environment
One of Thermoplan’s core values is ‘Promoting employee health and safety as a top priority’. Greenery in the working environment contributes to a healthy indoor climate. Plants improve air quality, which reduces complaints such as irritated eyes, headaches, dry throat and fatigue. Research shows that offices with sufficient greenery often have lower absenteeism due to employees feeling more comfortable and healthier. The application of the SemperGreenwall Indoor significantly improves air quality within the building, which is closely in line with Thermoplan’s core value of promoting employee health and safety.

Nature experience
With its impressive height and placement against a glass wall, the SemperGreenwall offers a fascinating vista into the production environment. The unique combination of nature, technology and design, which blends seamlessly with the building’s modern architecture, also provides a peaceful and inspiring environment to enjoy a cup of company-made coffee. The green wall contributes to the nature experience within the building and enhances the natural and timeless elegance of the interior.
Atmospheric lighting
A special element of this 44m² SemperGreenwall is the special lighting integrated into the living wall. Besides stimulating root and leaf growth for healthy and lush growing plants, this lighting gives the wall an atmospheric look as soon as it gets dark. All this makes the green wall an important contribution to the unique ambience of the atrium.
